Behind the L's third row, there's a substantial 17 cubic feet of luggage capacity; fold it flat, and that space expands to 47 cubes. 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Exterior
The Cherokee L refined exterior construction evolves how you interact with your Jeep. The Cherokee L prioritizes ergonomics, aerodynamics and safety. The solid build above and under the hood makes it a top-notch performer.
This original 4x4 gets a complete redesign, and the new Jeep styling is inspired by both the classic original and the modern concept of Jeep. It has a larger hood with an aggressive downward slope, a smaller seven-slat grille located atop a vast lower opening, and slim LED headlamps flanking on either side.
Like its front profile, the side profile of the new Grand Cherokee L is sharp and defined, and it features 21-inch wheels for the first time. Given that this is a three-row variant, the Grand Wagoneer L is significantly larger than its predecessor. The L model's wheelbase is 121.7 inches long, resulting in a total length of 204.9 inches. Engine, Performance and Fuel- Economy
The Grand Cherokee L is designed to work like no other in its class. Whether you choose the Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II or Quadra-Drive II, knowing your 4x4 system is wedded to an unmatched traction system, you can tailor it to best suit terrains and weather conditions.
When Canadians need to curve through snow-covered roads or pull onto snow-covered thruway, this Grand SUV can transfer all of its torque from front to back and side to side to provide optimal traction on road surfaces.
Cherokee got your back covered unconditionally. The 2021 model arrives laden with capability supporting features. Apart from the select terrain system, the available class-exclusive air suspension is exceptional in its adaptability. The air suspension travel allows for over 4 inches, adjustable and legendary.
The Quadralift system provides Jeepers 5 distinct suspension heights: normal, off-road 1, off-road 2, park mode, and aero mode. The Aero mode gets electronically activated to highway speeds to boost and maximize fuel economy.
Nothing gets between you and your destination in a Grand Cherokee. Water fording up to 24-inches and 10.9-inches of ground clearance clears the way ahead of obstacles. Better yet, lug up to 7200 lbs and tow whatever you need for the job or family getaway, thanks to the hardworking 5.7-litre V8 engine.
Performance & Drive Systems
L's off-road prowess will be familiar to owners and aficionados, with three available all- or four-wheel-drive systems. These include the single-speed Quadra-Trac I system, the Quadra-Trac II with a two-speed transfer case, and the top Quadra-Drive II system with low range and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential.
To obtain the latter, you must purchase an Overland or Summit model. Only the Trail-Rated Overland may be upgraded with the Off-Road Group package and its under body skid plating and 18-inch all-terrain tires. Air springs are also standard on those two trims, increasing ground clearance from 8.5 inches to a high 10.9 inches.
Overland's setup holds up impressively on the tight, undulating terrain. Its front-facing camera assists over blind crests and its 24.0-inch fording depth, making modest water crossings a nonissue with angles of approach about 30.1 degrees and break over 22.6 degrees.
The Grand Cherokee L's available powertrains are a 293-horsepower 3.6-litre V6, or 357-horsepower 5.7-litre V8 lashed to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Front and rear multi-link suspensions support the Grand Cherokee L. Optional air springs, and adaptive dampers are available. On the road, the theme is competent and secure, with a firm brake pedal, smooth and finely weighted steering, and enough body control.
On the active-safety front, nearly every modern driver assistance on the market is standard, with only a head-up display, a night-vision camera, and a few minor add-ons available as options on specific models.
